Bush and wildflowersGreat photo opportunities! Brilliant carpets of wildflowers are just one part of the amazing diversity the vegetation on Riverside exhibits. There is always something flowering in the bush and many species have been collated for our own herbarium. Native faunaThere are always plenty of native animals to see, including the pets and marsupials at night (see Night Tours). Mining heritageFrom some of Western Australia’s first mines. The first lead mines operated in this area and you can visit the historic mines of Geraldine and Galena and hear their stories from a very knowledgeable guide and local historian. Local indigenous historyA number of protected Aboriginal sites are present on Riverside Sanctuary. See the stones used for grinding food and discover the seeds used for food and other types of bush tucker. Protected river ecosystemsThere is 15km of the Murchison River running through the property. This area has been protected from stock for the last 35 years. Take a stroll to the river on our walk trails and see the wildlife and vegetation that has returned. |
