August was a busy month
We have been so busy in August with lots of exciting new things happening.
Although we haven’t had much more rain and the farming season will probably be poor, the wildflowers have started and we have some beautiful stands of everlastings along Coolcalalaya Rd towards the river. They came up from the floodwater in March and not from winter rainfall, but there are plenty of white everlastings, cream posies, yellow cornflowers, mauve daisies and more recently bright pink parakeelya. They best way to find the flowers this year is with a local guide, so get in touch if you want to see them!
We hosted 120 people for the Midwest Variety Club Bash at the end of July, which was very entertaining! Since then we’ve had visits from Geraldton Grammar School, who helped us plant lots of trees and salt-bush, the Geraldton Seniors Action Group, The Kalbarri Red Herrings – Red Hat Society Group, the Sunnywest Caravaner’s, the Royal Ag Society Media Tour including “Postcards WA” and “Geraldton on Show”, the Midwest Caravan Club and 120 cyclists from On your Bike WA. WOW! And then to top it all off we had Mel and the Crew from “Home in WA” on the 31st of August, so keep your eyes open for a couple of Western Australian TV appearances during September!
Kalbarri Coach Tours have started bi-weekly coach tours from Kalbarri to Riverside which include lunch in the Shearing Shed, a tour of the best flowers we can find on the farm and afternoon tea – one of the best ways to see what’s around.
